When I met Jen & Larry at their consult, I immediately knew we were the right fit for each other. They told me their wedding reception was going to at the Sheraton Commander Hotel in Boston, and the theme was going to be board games. My stepmother used to work for Hasbro Games in the marketing department, and I even tested out prototype games as a kid before they were released. It couldn’t be a more perfect match! They still had a DJ for ambient music and hosting, which I highly recommend for any event. I love when couples aren’t afraid to be unique and do something different. Guests loved the game theme too. They tried and learned new games, some colored with the kids, and it was a great way to bring everyone together!
Of course this wedding wouldn’t have been so perfectly executed without our friend Amy from Consider It Done Special Events! From coordinating the day all the way down to the unique decor, she kept everything running smoothly. I highly recommend hiring an event coordinator when you can. Planning is definitely not easy, and they can help make your big day even more amazing by taking the stress away from you!

I always enjoy trips into the city, but finding parking, and getting between multiple venues can be hectic and time consuming. At the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor, you get the most amazing Boston city views without the stress of parking and transportation! The Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor is actually located at Boston Logan Airport, which makes things easy for family and friends traveling from far away. With multiple ballrooms and event spaces to choose from, they can accommodate all sizes of guest lists.
Dawn & Ryan both got ready in the rooms overlooking the city, had a wonderful outdoor ceremony right on the harbor, and the reception was held in the outdoor tent. Guests danced the night away to a live band, and ate a proper New England lobster dinner (except me, I hate seafood…I’m a bad Bostonian!).

With 6 weddings in a 2 week time span, October was definitely my busiest month last year! It is again this year with just as many. Fall sure is popular for weddings in New England! Luckily we had a warmer October, so it almost felt like summer for Zoe & Dan’s beautiful big day at the Five Bridge Inn. They are such a sweet and easy-going couple, and were surrounded by lots of family and friends that were thrilled to be celebrating their wedding with them 🙂
The Five Bridge Inn is a gorgeous venue in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, where you can have your whole event on site if you so choose. The Inn itself is beautifully decorated, lending itself to great photos indoors, as well as out. Zoe & Dan had their ceremony at a church, with the reception at the Inn. An awesome couple, a beautiful church, and an awesome venue, what more can a photographer ask for? 🙂
617 Weddings was representing with photography and DJ services. The reception rocked all night long, until the wedding party went to have a bonfire, which is another thing that makes the Five Bridge Inn awesome. Aside from having many rooms to stay on site, making your day so much easier, there’s also some farm animals, as well as a pool, and a couple spots for bonfires. It’s definitely a way to make a fun weekend out of your wedding!

While I’m a big fan of family traditions, I’m not going to lie, I love some of the unexpected and fun things that come along with non-traditional weddings. Karen & Richie kept it easy and both got ready at home, which was super relaxing for everyone. They did stay apart until they were ready to see each other for their first look. They also had a small wedding party, and everyone was at the the house, so that meant the wedding party photos were done before we even left for the venue. Talk about a time saver! Also, being at their home gives me a little bit of insight as to who they are, and some of that can show through in their photos. After getting ready, we headed to Cafe Escadrille for the ceremony and reception.
They had a sweet indoor ceremony followed by an awesome reception, with music provided by 617 Weddings DJ Chris Profenna, complete with choreographed dances! It was a wedding many years in the making, and you could see how excited their family and friends were to be there to celebrate. I’m honored to have been a part of such a special day!
Melissa & Josh – Groveland Fairways Wedding – August 2015

Groveland Fairways is quickly becoming another one of my favorite venues! Not only is it a close location for me, it’s absolutely beautiful, with lots of options for photo spots, indoor and out. This also means ceremony spaces indoor and out, so if its winter, or you have bad weather and need to move inside, you’re all set! Luckily the weddings I had there this summer were both outside in their gorgeous ceremony space. It’s a bit off-set to the back of the property, so it’s nice and private for the ceremony while preparations are made for the reception inside, even if you can hear the baby goats next door 🙂 Cocktail hour can be held out back on the patio as well in nicer weather.
Now about the couple, the main part of the day! Melissa & Josh were awesome throughout the entire process of planning through day of. They are both so laid back and they had a super fun wedding! They are also very sentimental and had a lot of heirlooms included in their big day, the most special one being the diamond in Melissa’s engagement ring. One of my favorite parts was the Horah Dance at the reception. I’d never shot one, and was excited when we got some great shots of it, even if Melissa preferred to stay closer to the ground 🙂 It was another wedding where I felt like part of the family. And now I’ve heard they are expecting their first little one soon! Congratulations!
Thompson Island Wedding

I had the pleasure of second shooting with Amanda McMahon Photography back in September on the beautiful Thompson Island. It’s one of the harbor islands off the coast of Boston. The boat trip over only took about 10 minutes, and the views of the Boston skyline are just incredible. It makes quite the backdrop for a wedding! It was a beautiful day and we even beat the rain for the ceremony. It did get a little stormy and windy (there were even tornado warnings on the main land!) but luckily we were already under the covered reception space. It was a very New England style wedding, complete with lobster and oysters for dinner. Those who know me know that I actually hate seafood (I know, bad New Englander!) but luckily they also had incredible BBQ chicken. There was also pie served along with the cake. Not a lot of food photos though, I was busy eating! 🙂 I definitely hope to shoot there again soon!
Janelle & Eric – Royal Sonesta Wedding – Cambridge, Massachusetts

I’ve been a little behind on blogging but finally, here are the photos from Janelle & Eric’s Royal Sonesta Wedding! I shot their engagement session in August of last year. They were my first client booking after I re-launched and revamped my business last fall. Janelle’s father is a long time friend of my father’s, and I’ve known him since I can remember. We had a great time shooting their engagement photos in Rockport, so I had been looking forward to their wedding day ever since.
There were a lot of great moments throughout the day, but one of my favorites was Janelle’s first look with her father, and dare I say, it was pretty adorable! You’ll see it in the photos below, so keep reading and scrolling! First looks are becoming popular with brides and grooms, but not everyone decides to do them. If you don’t do a first look with your spouse, you can definitely have one with your father. I did with mine, and it was an awesome moment! You just can’t let him see your dress before the wedding 🙂 There was also a lot of the “Janelle face,” and this is the first time I’ve ever seen the Best Man make a toast with an actual piece of toast!
Janelle wanted a big wedding, and a big wedding she got! It was one of the biggest I’ve shot to date, and it was a great time. I had an awesome second photographer by my side as well as my husband on video. The ceremony was at St. John’s the Evangelist in Cambridge, MA and the reception was at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, with the Boston skyline as a backdrop. It was beautiful! They also had a Beatles tribute band called Britishmania as part of their entertainment. That’s something I’ve never seen at a wedding before and the guests loved it. Keep scrolling to check out photos from their awesome wedding day!
